One of the standout features of this restaurant is their creative and innovative menu. They recently offered a three-course pairing menu in celebration of chardonnay with some of their signature dishes that complemented this delicious wine varietal perfectly. Featuring some of South Africa's best in class – Hamilton Russell, Paul Cluver, Glen Carlou, Babylonstoren and Glenelly Reserve – this menu was a hit among foodies.
Chef Chleo's love for cooking stems from her mother who taught her how to cook at a very young age. Her mother's influence can be seen in the delicious dishes served at Sonny & Irene. The Crusted Kingklip with Labneh and Spiced Aioli or Chef’s Pierogi with Mizithra cheese, potato, crème fraîche, walnut oil and shaved walnut are just some of the mouth-watering starters on offer. For mains, try the Daily White Fish with tomato, olive, thyme and baby new potatoes or Truffle Risotto with local black truffle and parmesan. And don't forget to end your meal on a sweet note with their Banana Split featuring Crème Diplomate, butterscotch, macadamia and caramelised banana ice cream.
Overall, Sonny & Irene is a must-visit restaurant in Cape Town for anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience.
