We’ve had some of South Africa’s biggest names at the Dark Horse Tiny Concerts
Series and this time round it’s no different.
On Tuesday 22 September, we’ll be welcoming SAMA-winning singer-songwriter Ard Matthews to our home away from home.
As the frontman and principal songwriter for Just Jinjer, Matthews gigged an arena tour with Counting Crows and saw their debut album ‘All Comes Around’ become the bestselling rock album in South African history. Since then, he’s won multiple awards and grown his solo career, releasing three critically acclaimed studio albums.
Matthews has built his reputation on sincerity, timeless melodies, and emotional honesty and we’re thrilled that he’ll be our mane attraction in September.
So saddle up and join us at The Horse on Tuesday, 22 September at 7 pm for another excellent evening of great vibes and excellent drinks.

It’s another Tiny Concert Series instalment at The Dark Notes!
Albert Frost is a SAMA-winning blues singer-songwriter, rock guitarist and producer who has been performing since 1994 when he joined The Blues Broers at the age of 17.
Frost, renowned for his exceptional guitar skills and soulful vocals, blends delta blues, psychedelic rock, and Afro rhythms to deliver a truly unique sound. He has recorded with the likes of Arno Carstens, Koos Kombuis and Chris Chameleon, performed with international artists such as Ali Farka Toure and Finley Quaye, toured with Simple Minds and Rem, and supported the Rolling Stones and TEXAS.

Fifteen years ago, Derek Gripper did what everyone said was impossible: he recorded the works of Mali’s greatest virtuoso, Toumani Diabaté, on solo classical guitar.
Thirty albums later, Derek’s latest tour focuses on kumbengo - the cyclical variations that sit at the heart of the West African tradition.
We’re thrilled to host Derek at Dark Notes again this year.
Book your tickets on Quicket for 4 August at 7pm. Our cosy lounge space will make you feel like you’re enjoying this world-famous musician in the comfort of your own home.
Tickets are R250 for the concert or if you feel like a Black Sheep Dinner beforehand you can buy a ticket for two-course dinner and the show for only R450.

To reach Kloof Street in Cape Town via public transport, you can take a MyCiTi bus to the Kloof Nek stop and walk down Kloof Street. Alternatively, you can use a taxi or ride-sharing service to drop you off directly on Kloof Street.
If you are driving, head towards the city center on the M3 and take the De Waal Drive exit. Continue onto Jutland Avenue and then turn left onto Kloof Street. There are parking options along Kloof Street or in nearby parking lots for your convenience.
