Dearest Gentle Reader,
Spring has sprung and with that we bid farewell to winter. The signs are all around us; lavishly blooming Jasmine, birds of a feather that flock together...not indifferent to our very own vicounts, horsemen and distinguished ladies.
How very perfect indeed.

The month of August has left us all with fond memories...
We had the rather lovely Phoenix Rising literally rise from the ashes...or in this writers story from the smell of petrol and dust when 60 or so horseman galloped in unison all the way from the St.Rand noble house causing quite the spectacle with their shiny horses and sculled attire to celebrate "Bike Night ".

Rumor has it that our enchanted quizmaster Lady Natasha Malherbe confused your thoughts and showed not a spec of mercy on quiz night...how very perfect 👌 A new contender sweeped in and stole the title of Augusts highly sought after crown.

We hardly had time to blink in-between and the 3 lizards also known as Akkedis Band Arthur Dennis Full Rudolph Dennis Adrian-John Graham made their grand entrance at our humble abode to rock the house in a way that can only be described as exquisite!

Simple indulgences were enjoyed by lords and ladies alike, devouring each morsel like their last meal.

Our beloved Bokkies was a case of "the more they shine, the faster they burn" but for all hearts and souls sake they redeemed themselves in a spectacular show in round 2 against the battle of the beasts from under down under .

The ladies and gents in the yellow frocks were as always there to make sure you were not parched and bestowed on you "a cold one ".

This season however holds so much more, so saddle your horse , hold onto your hat and make haste to ye olde bell for an unforgettable celebration of Spring!

This writer would like to remind you that our annual Potjiekos competition makes its second appearance in the history of it's existence on the 19th of September at noon.

Join us for a mouth-watering, GEES-filled afternoon of good food, great people, and plenty of potjie pride!

Only 10 spots available — and guess what? ENTRY IS ONLY R100

📜 INFO, RULES & OTHER IMPORTANT BITS:
👨‍🍳 Teams: Up to 4 members per team.
🔥 Supplies: Wood (within reason) and braais are provided — but you’re welcome to bring your own setup if you’ve got a lucky spoon or secret fire.

⏰ Timing: You’ve got 4 hours to work your magic — from 12:00 to 4:00 PM.
🧑‍⚖️ Judging: Starts at 4 PM sharp, followed by a prize-giving fit for legends.

The judges’ decision is final (no amount of bribery or puppy eyes will help).

This year’s panel includes our very own Viper Val (Potte Prut Season 8, Episode 8 winner 👏), plus two mysterious guest judges who’ll make a surprise entrance on the day!

Each team donates 4 small portions of their potjie for resale — this helps cover costs and lets everyone get a taste of your culinary genius!
