Last year, we put out a call to all young South African entrepreneurs to enter our Youth Makers competition for the chance to take their small business to the next level.
From all the entries we received, 30 finalists arrived at our HQ to pitch their businesses to our team. Our panel of judges were on the lookout for innovation, viability and sustainability, and they werenât disappointed by the level of talent shown by our youth. The 15 best businesses were selected, and on 1 June, we unveil our winners - the 2026 Youth Makers!

These little treasures are quark mini cheesecakes. Hereâs how to make them at home đ°
Ingredients:
For the shortbread crust:
120 g Woolworths shortbread biscuits, crushed
3 T butter, melted
For the cheesecake filling:
500 g Woolworths quark
3 free range egg yolks
1 T all-purpose flour
1 t vanilla paste
Method
1. Prepare the crust: Preheat the oven to 170°C. Line a muffin tray with paper muffin cases.
2. Mix the crushed Woolworths shortbread biscuits with the warm melted butter until the mixture resembles damp sand.
3. Spoon 1 tablespoon of the crust mixture into the base of each muffin case and press down lightly with the back of a spoon to compact.
4. Make the filling: In a bowl, whisk together the quark, egg yolks, flour and vanilla paste until smooth.
5. Spoon the cheesecake mixture over the crusts, filling each muffin case almost to the top.
6. Bake for 10â12 minutes until the cheesecakes are just set around the edges but still slightly soft in the centre.
7. Cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
8. Dust with icing sugar and serve with fresh berries.

Take a train or bus to the Cape Town Station. From there, take a taxi or minibus taxi to V&A Waterfront. Alternatively, you can use the MyCiTi Bus service from several locations in Cape Town to the V&A Waterfront.
Driving/Parking Option:
Drive towards the City Centre along Buitengracht Street. Turn right into Riebeek Street and continue straight until you reach Dock Road. Turn left onto Dock Road and drive until you see parking spots around the area.
