40th birthday in the 'burbs. Happy birthday Julia!
Pizza Piaggio is a unique pizza place that offers handcrafted pizzas cooked to order in a specially-built wood fire oven, which is custom-fitted into the back of an original Italian Piaggio Ape. They use high-quality Italian pizza flour for their dough, carefully chosen plum tomatoes for their sauce, and locally sourced organic cured meats. With roots in the South of Italy and South Africa's only water buffalo farmer producing fresh buffalo mozzarella, Pizza Piaggio creates authentic Italian pizzas with a hint of South African flavor.

Pizza Piaggio in Cape Town is a must-visit for pizza lovers. This food truck offers handmade pizzas that are cooked to order in a specially-built wood fire oven, which is custom fitted into the back of an original Italian Piaggio Ape. The dough used for the pizzas is made using the finest Italian pizza flour and slowly fermented for at least 48 hours, resulting in a distinctive crunchy-yet-chewy, flavourful crust.
The sauce used on the pizzas is made from carefully chosen Italian plum tomatoes and has a closely-guarded secret recipe that is ridiculously simple yet delicious. The mozzarella used on the pizzas is buffalo mozzarella produced by South Africa’s only water buffalo farmer just outside of Cape Town.
Pizza Piaggio takes animal welfare and provenance seriously, which is why their cured meats are made from local organic orchard-reared pigs and by one of South Africa’s most recognisable cured meat artisans: Richard Bosman.
The food truck's roots lie proudly in Salerno, just south of Napoli, and they use only the best ingredients to create authentic Italian-style pizzas. Pizza Piaggio's unique setup inside an original Italian Piaggio Ape adds to its charm and makes it stand out from other pizza places in Cape Town.
