How Wild Eatery began — Part 2 🌱
This chapter started with me back in Cape Town, figuring things without my biggest supporter — and thinking markets might offer some kind of work/life balance (they don’t 😅).
It was early mornings, slow nights, lots of packing and unpacking, and a lot of trial and error… until things started to click. Regulars, queues, catering, pop-ups — momentum building in ways I didn’t expect.
The forced pause after COVID helped me to realise that it was time to build something sustainable, and that having a fixed address would be great way to reach and feed more people. Hello Harrington Street!! 👋🏽

In this episode of business name epic fails…
What happens when you brainstorm business names with your family and your brother-in-law is a carpenter?
Confusion 😅
Before Wild Eatery, we were called Tongue & Groove — a woodworking joint, and (I thought) a clever way to describe flavours that fit together so groovily.
Turns out… after the 10th person asked if we served tongue, it was NOT the one. 🥲
So in 2016, Wild was born — a name that felt much closer to how I wanted to live (inspired by my favourite saying “all good things are wild and free”) 💚

How Wild Eatery began - PART 1
It started with a love for animals and being a sensitive (slightly feral) wild child 🐾
Over time, things started to shift and I wanted my lifestyle to feel more in line with what mattered to me. I fell in love with how good plant-based food could be and wanted to share that.
The idea for a food business was born!
But it had to wait while I paid back my student loan and sampled the world's veggie delights ✈️
Next: bringing it back to Cape Town.
