Always room for one more. 💛
Meet Primrose Nombali, the fourth of our five Heritage Day winners.
For Primrose, heritage is a beautiful, chaotic Mzansi mix: family roots, a whistling kettle, classic South African jazz on the radio and a warm breakfast shared around the table.
It lives in the Ubuntu she inherited from her Gogo, in traditional attire on Heritage Day and Springbok jerseys when the game is on. It sounds like three languages spoken in one sentence, loud laughter and a family that heals through sharing food.
As Primrose tells us: “My heritage taught me to feed the village.”
Her story reminds us that heritage isn’t always one tradition. Sometimes it is the joyful blend of people, rituals and values that makes us who we are - and the instinct to make room for one more.
Primrose has won 1,000 Nutrific breakfasts for her chosen Educare, helping her pass that love, nourishment and energy on to the next generation.

Crush. Mix. Bake. Go.
Not every Super Morning comes in a bowl.
Crush. Mix. Bake. Pack.
These few pantry staples combine to create a tasty, high fibre Nutrific Loaf Cake.
INGREDIENTS:
• 225 g raisins
• 3 Nutrific Wholewheat Biscuits (approximately 60–65 g)
• 175g castor sugar
• 430 ml milk. We used full-cream milk, but you can also use oat, almond or another plant-based milk.
• 225 g self-raising flour, sifted
Follow these 4 easy steps and ENJOY!
1. Combine all the ingredients EXCEPT the flour in a bowl. Mash the Nutrific biscuits with a fork and stir the mixture well. Cover and leave overnight, or for at least a few hours before baking.
2. Stir in the flour until combined - do not over-stir. Spoon the mixture into a greased or baking paper-lined loaf pan and level the top.
3. Bake on the middle oven shelf for 1–1½ hours, or until risen, golden and a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
4. Enjoy with butter, margarine, jam and/or cheese.

Meet Fhatu Lubisi, the third of our five Heritage Day winners.
A proud Mutsonga from Bushbuckridge, Fhatu’s heritage lives in the Xitsonga greetings she shares, the Vuswa, Tihove and Xigugu she grew up eating, and the sound of the Xibelani skirt and Xincayincayi drums.
It lives in faith, respect for elders, hard work, sharing food from one plate - and dancing through difficult times.
As Fhatu tells us: “Bushbuckridge taught me Ubuntu, but in Xitsonga we call it Vumunhu.”
Her story reminds us that even as life takes us to new places, our roots can keep us grounded in who we are and the values we carry forward.
Fhatu has won 1,000 Nutrific breakfasts for her chosen Educare, because, in her words, “every child deserves a full stomach and a proud start to the day.”

Meet Qadira Hendricks, the second of our five Heritage Day winners.
Through the Athaan, Eid mornings, family meals and the lessons she passes on to her son, Qadira celebrates a South African Muslim heritage grounded in faith, family, generosity and kindness.
Her story reminds us that our different cultures, languages, religions and traditions do not have to divide us. They enrich the country we share - and around a table filled with food and love, we often discover just how much we have in common.
Qadira has won 1,000 Nutrific breakfasts for an Educare of her choice, helping more children begin their mornings nourished and ready for the day ahead.

The laptops and screens donated to Ulwazi Educare are doing more than supporting classroom lessons.
They are also bringing movement, music and joy into the school day.
Through the iRainbow programme, the children are able to follow along with dance and movement activities - learning rhythm, coordination, confidence and self-expression while having a wonderful time together.
It was such a joy to see the same technology used for both structured learning and active play.
From insect lessons to dance sessions, these tools are helping create a richer, more engaging classroom experience for the children at Ulwazi.
And as we continue feeding Ulwazi daily, our bigger dream remains clear: to help set up a full computer class where the children can keep learning, practising and growing.
Because stronger mornings can lead to brighter days - in every sense.

Her heritage is alive - in these girls, in this dust, in this dance.
Meet Mpho Prince Sephaphathi, the first of our five Heritage Day winners.
A proud Motswana woman from Bojanala, Mpho doesn’t simply preserve her heritage - she puts it into action. Through Setswana dance and the values of Botho and Ubuntu, she gives local girls a place to belong, a reason to feel proud and a powerful connection to who they are.
Her story reminds us that heritage is not only what we inherit. It is what we use to protect, guide and inspire the next generation.

Last year, Nutrific donated laptops, screens, printers and free Wi-Fi to the classrooms at Ulwazi Educare in Delft - the Educare centre we are proud to support with daily breakfasts.
On a recent visit, we saw those tools being put to beautiful use. In this lesson, the children are learning all about insects through the iRainbow programme - watching, listening, asking questions and discovering the world in a new way.
These computers are helping bring valuable lessons into the classroom, giving young learners access to educational content that supports curiosity, language, understanding and confidence.
Even more exciting, the children also get the opportunity to practise on the computers themselves - an important step towards our bigger goal of helping Ulwazi establish a full computer class at the school.
Because a Super Morning is not only about filling little tummies. It is about opening little minds too.
