Her legacy lives on.
In remembrance of Emily Hobhouse - Respected in South Africa for her courage and compassion, and for the thousands of lives she helped save. Her legacy remains forever connected to the country she came to call home.
Following her death in London in 1926, her ashes were laid to rest at the National Womenโs Monument in Bloemfontein - a lasting tribute to a remarkable woman. Now, 100 years later we are so thrilled to attend an event in her honour - Jasper Raats will be attending the Emily 100 event happening in Bloemfontein from 28 October - 31 October. To reach Longridge Estate in Stellenbosch, you have a couple of options depending on your mode of transport.
**Driving Directions:**
1. From Cape Town, take the N1 highway towards Paarl.
2. Take the exit for R304 toward Stellenbosch.
3. Continue on R304 until you reach the T-junction with the R44.
4. Turn left onto R44 and follow it for about 5 km.
5. Look for signs directing you to Longridge Estate; turn right onto Annandale Road.
6. Follow Annandale Road until you see the entrance to Longridge Estate on your left.
**Parking:**
There is ample parking available on-site at Longridge Estate.
**Public Transport:**
1. Take a train from Cape Town to Stellenbosch Station (check current schedules).
2. From Stellenbosch Station, you can catch a local taxi or rideshare service directly to Longridge Estate, which is approximately 10 km away.
3. Alternatively, look for shuttle services that may operate between Stellenbosch and local wineries.
Make sure to check public transport schedules in advance as they can vary throughout the week!
