Week 2 of our Winter Combo Specials has officially come and gone, and what a delicious week it was!

The star of the show was our homemade Chicken Ahkni, served with a rich Chocolate Brownie to complete the combo.

One thing that truly completed our Mince Curry & Roti combo was the warm homemade Malva pudding portions that accompanied each meal.

Soft, rich, syrupy, and comforting, the Malva pudding added the perfect sweet finish after enjoying the savoury curry and roti. It is a true winter favourite that brought a little extra warmth and sweetness to the combo.

The feedback on the pudding portions was absolutely amazing, and we are so grateful to everyone who placed their orders and supported our special offer. Knowing our customers enjoyed every bite makes it all worthwhile.

Afternoon Everyone

Trust you are all well, safe after the terrible storm we had, and keeping warm. As many of you know, I am definitely not a fan of this cold weather at all.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been testing and perfecting a few soup recipes, and after receiving so many messages and requests from some of you, I’ve decided to officially offer soups this winter season.

Each week there will be a Soup of the Week, which will be posted every Monday. And for those who may not know, many of the meals I offer can be frozen and enjoyed at a later stage the soups will be exactly the same, making them perfect for busy days or cold evenings.

Starting next week, I’ll also be introducing weekly combo deals! These will be available in limited quantities each week, but I promise they’ll be worth it.

Another two delicious meals that were delivered last week.

First up was our creamy chicken pasta rich, creamy and comforting, with the addition of green beans because this customer always makes sure there’s some veggies included in every meal. It is a perfect combination of comfort food and something wholesome all in one dish.

We also prepared a loaded baked potato filled with creamy chicken, cheese and herbs. Soft fluffy potato paired with a rich and flavourful filling makes this the perfect comfort meal for these colder days.

The best part? It can be enjoyed as a meal all on its own or served as a delicious side dish alongside your favourite mains. Either way, it is absolutely satisfying and packed with flavour.

After the storms and crazy weather Cape Town has been experiencing lately, we truly hope everyone is safe, warm and doing well.

Now tell me honestly who can ever say no to a good pie?

This one definitely isn’t for those counting calories or sticking strictly to diets.........sorry guys! This is for the people who simply crave something warm, hearty, comforting, and absolutely delicious without overthinking it.

This was one of last week’s orders our Chicken & Mushroom Pie. Filled generously with tender chicken and mushrooms, all brought together in a rich, creamy sauce that makes every bite comforting and satisfying. Wrapped in golden pastry and baked until perfectly crisp honestly, this is the kind of meal that just hits the spot on a cold day.

I wish I could show you the inside because the filling was packed to the brim, but only my customer got to experience that deliciousness firsthand.

There’s just something about homemade pies that feel comforting and nostalgic. They’re filling, flavourful, and perfect for sharing around the table with family.

I’m definitely a pie person… "Are you?"

This Cape Town winter weather has truly been something else from heavy rain and flooding to strong winds and power outages. We know many families are trying to stay warm, safe and dry during these storms.

Please take extra care over the next few days: • Stay indoors where possible
• Be cautious on the roads and avoid flooded areas
• Keep warm and hydrated
• Check in on elderly family members, neighbours and friends

Last week turned into a full-on Soup Testing Week in my kitchen, and honestly, it was such a fun experience!

With winter creeping in, I’ve been thinking about possibly adding a small soup menu, so I decided to trial 5 different soups with one of my regular customers, who just so happens to be a serious soup lover.

On the menu was:
✨ Butternut Soup
✨ Chicken Soup
✨ Vegetable Soup
✨ Mushroom Soup
✨ Pea Soup

And now I have a problem because apparently ALL of them were delicious.

Her feedback was that she would happily order every single one again, which makes deciding what to offer even harder. But I truly loved hearing honest feedback and seeing how much comfort and joy a simple bowl of soup can bring. There’s just something special about warm, homemade food during colder days.

So, for now, the soup menu is still under consideration, but keep an eye on my page because soup season might officially be arriving at Kitchen Something this winter.
