A little reminder of what a table at Melfort feels like. 🌿
Seasonal food, generous plates, something good in your glass, and enough time to actually enjoy it.
Our menus change with the seasons, but the feeling stays much the same — food that is thoughtful, nourishing and made to be shared.
If it’s been a while, come back and see what’s on the table now.

Somewhere to start forever. 🤍
There is something so special about watching this little place of ours become the setting for a day that will mean so much to someone for the rest of their lives.
A ceremony surrounded by trees. Drinks in the garden. The people you love gathered together. Nourishing food passed around the table, w**e poured generously, speeches, laughter — and an evening that slowly settles in beneath the lights.
We’ve never wanted weddings at Melfort to feel overly formal or removed from who we are.
We want them to feel intimate, relaxed and rooted in the land. Centred around beautiful seasonal food, the people who matter most, and having the time and space to simply enjoy being together.
Perhaps that’s what we love most about hosting weddings here — watching a place that means so much to us become part of somebody else’s story too.
If you’re dreaming of an intimate farm wedding in the W**elands, we’d love to hear what you have in mind.

A little something to welcome you to Melfort. 🌿
Every meal begins with a cup of our seasonal healing tea — a small moment to arrive, slow down and settle in before the food begins.
This month we’re pouring organic rooibos with carob, rose geranium, lime leaf and fresh lime juice.
This has to be one of our favourites.
Come and enjoy the last stretch of winter with us. The garden is beginning to stir, spring is just around the corner, and we can’t wait to share this changing season with you.

If you’ve been meaning to visit us, perhaps this is your sign. ⭐️
A long lunch overlooking the dam. A wander through the garden between courses. Geese appearing where they please. Little ones exploring the lawn. A bottle of w**e opened, phones forgotten, and nowhere you particularly need to be for the next few hours.
This is the part of Melfort that is difficult to put on a menu.
We love the food, of course — but we love what happens around it even more. People slowing down. Families gathering. Friends staying longer than they planned. Tables becoming full of plates, glasses, stories and laughter.
Come hungry. Give yourself a few hours. We’ll take care of the rest.

The doors open again this Saturday, and we are so ready to welcome you back. 🌿
Can you feel our excitement? ☀️
While the kitchen and front of house team have been resting, we’ve been reminded of how much love lives in every corner of Melfort.
The grasses greeting you at our front door were gathered by the two of us — Tasmin and Nick. Preserved fynbos hangs above the dining room. Our tables were made by a local craftsman just down the road. The wooden bowls were shaped from fallen trees, the stone bowls from river rock, and many of the plates you eat from were handmade by local artisan.
Nothing was chosen simply to fill a space. Every piece carries a person, a place or a story — and together, they help Melfort feel like home.
We reopen for service this Saturday, 1 August, rested, recharged and incredibly excited to cook for you again.
Come back to the table. We’ve missed you.

Your table is waiting. 🌿
After our winter break, we’re so looking forward to welcoming you back.
Melfort reopens for service on Saturday 1 August, and we return feeling rested, recharged, and ready to serve.
The garden is alive again, the kitchen is warming up, and the table is set for long lunches, beautiful dinners, and the kind of meals that invite you to slow down and stay a little longer.
If you’ve been meaning to visit, we’d love to encourage you to book your seat soon. We are already filling up quickly, especially for the festive season, year-end gatherings, January bookings, and early 2027 dates.
Because of the demand, we’ll also be open Tuesday to Sunday from the beginning of November through to the end of March.
So whether you’d like to join us next week, celebrate something special at the end of the year, or plan ahead for summer, now is a good time to secure your table.

One last weekend before we slow down. 🌿
This is our final weekend of service before Melfort closes for our winter break throughout July.
If you’ve been meaning to visit, we’d love to welcome you.
Expect comforting seasonal food, warm fires, slow lunches and dinners, and a menu inspired by everything the season is offering us right now.
Food that encourages you to slow down, stay a little longer and enjoy the people around your table.
✨ Saturday is fully booked as we celebrate a beautiful wedding.
✨ We have only a handful of tables remaining this Friday and Sunday before we close for July.
We hope to see you before we take a little time to rest, dream and prepare for the season ahead.
