What people say
Tjing Tjing in Longmarket, Cape Town is a must-visit for anyone looking for an exciting interpretation of Japanese food and culture. The 200-year old heritage building has been renovated to provide four distinctly different venues and experiences. On the ground floor, Torii offers casual Japanese food typically found at yokocho (street food alleys) in a space inspired by the multiple layers of old and modern Tokyo. The dishes range from traditional Japanese breakfast, bento and sando boxes, tempura temaki, steamed hirata buns, yakitori and gyoza along with more substantial ramen or rice bowls and their famous Atsui Dog. Don't miss the playful selection of mochi & Japanese cheesecake. Torii bar provides sake, local and Japanese beer, cocktails and their own Tjing Tjing red and white wines in collaboration with David & Nadia Wines.
On the middle floor - Momiji - a tranquil and meditative space offering a more formal Japanese dining experience. Kaiseki, Japan’s precursor to the modern degustation menu, is about celebrating and respecting season and place, structure, technique. Momiji lounge is perfect for pre-dinner drinks or post-dinner relaxation.
The third floor houses Tjing Tjing Rooftop Bar which offers stunning views of Cape Town's skyline while enjoying delicious drinks with friends or colleagues. The bar has a relaxed atmosphere where you can unwind after a long day.
Overall, Tjing Tjing is an excellent choice for those looking for an authentic Japanese experience in Cape Town. With its unique blend of casual street food on the ground floor to formal dining on the middle floor to rooftop drinks with stunning views on the top floor - there's something for everyone at this establishment!
