Shiraz and ice cream may sound unexpected, but this is exactly the kind of pairing worth experiencing for yourself.
Chef Jodie and Sous Chef Rego take us behind the creation of one of the standout dishes from our 7 Days of Shiraz menu.
The dessert combines Shiraz and vanilla ice cream, dark chocolate crémeux, blackberry gel and hazelnut tuile, paired with Under Oaks Shiraz 2019.
Join us from 21 to 28 August for a four course menu paired with four different vintages of Under Oaks Shiraz.

A week dedicated to Shiraz, explored through food and vintage. 🍷
From 22 to 28 August, Grande Roche invites you to experience a specially created four course menu paired with four vintages of Under Oaks Shiraz.
Begin with fire roasted pumpkin, brown butter and honey, whipped Dalewood Huguenot, pumpkin seed pesto and crispy sage, paired with Under Oaks Shiraz 2020.
Next, enjoy spiced cured duck breast with guava membrillo, pickled guava, parsnip cream, gooseberry and Marsala jus, paired with Under Oaks Shiraz 2018.
The main course features slow braised and coal fired beef short rib with potato and truffle purée, glazed baby carrots, burnt onion, smoked bone marrow and Cape Ruby jus, paired with Under Oaks Shiraz 2017.
To finish, Shiraz and vanilla ice cream is served with dark chocolate crémeux, blackberry gel and hazelnut tuile, paired with Under Oaks Shiraz 2019.

On Friday, 21 August, Grande Roche welcomes Charles Hopkins, Cellarmaster of De Grendel, for a special wine pairing dinner in the heart of the Cape Winelands.
Guests will begin with canapés before enjoying three carefully prepared courses, each paired with a selection from six De Grendel wines. The evening will feature celebrated wines including Proposal Hill Cap Classique Brut Rosé, Rubaiyat and Edel Laat Oes.

To reach Plantasie Street in Paarl using public transport, you can take a train to Paarl Station and then walk or take a taxi to Plantasie Street. Alternatively, you can take a bus to the Paarl CBD and then walk to Plantasie Street.
If you are driving, you can take the N1 highway towards Paarl. Take exit 55 for the R45/R101 towards Franschhoek/Paarl Main Road. Continue on Main Road until you reach Plantasie Street. There are parking options available at various locations along Plantasie Street.
