Did you know it takes 5 days to make a chocolate slab from scratch?

We start with cacao beans from in Tanzania and make our chocolate from scratch, taking each bean through every step. From roasting to grinding, tempering to wrapping, we shape each bar by hand.

This is what we mean by bean-to-bar. It takes time, but it’s how we keep things honest. 🍫

We've just received our latest shipment of organic cacao beans directly from producers in Tanzania! 🍫

These organic beans come through our direct trade relationship with , a premium cacao producer that works closely with local farmers to provide us high quality cacao with care and transparency at every step.

For us, bean-to-bar starts long before the chocolate is made and what you get to finally enjoy with our slabs. It starts at origin, with the people growing the cacao, the relationships built over time, and a supply chain rooted in ethics, traceability, and respect.

Now, the next part of the journey begins here in our factory - making chocolate! 🤎

Chocolate finds its way into a lot of things around here 🍫

From our handmade truffles to Turkish delight and desserts, there’s more than one way to enjoy Honest Chocolate.

Some people go straight for something warm like our Malva Pudding, while others keep it simple with a piece of chocolate.

We'd love to know what your favourite way to enjoy Honest Chocolate is? 🤎

Whether it’s running in to grab a last-minute birthday gift, picking up cute flowers for your café, or sourcing props for a photoshoot, the Cape Town Flower Market on Adderley Street has long been a beloved and reliable space within the Cape Town community.

With the current concerns around the proposed rules and tariffs affecting the market, we want to show our support and appreciation for the incredible women and men who have kept the market going for decades. From waking up before sunrise to set up their stalls, to relying on flower sales to provide for their families, their work and presence are deeply valued in our city.

If you’re around the CBD, take a moment to treat yourself or a loved one to a beautiful bouquet while supporting local. Say hi to Aunty Glenda, Kim and baby Hannah, Aunty Millie, Fadwah, Shaun, uncle Ian, Alison, Rahgeemah, and the lovely Aunty Dielah 💗

P.S. If you’re joining us at Wale Street Café for Mother’s Day this weekend, the beautiful flowers you’ll see around the café are all from the market 💐

What does “bean to bar” actually mean? 🍫

For us, it starts with cacao beans sourced from Kokoa Kamili in Tanzania. We sort the beans by hand, then roast, ground, and carefully shape them into chocolate.

Every step happens in-house, in small batches. It takes time, but it allows us to stay close to the process, the ingredients, and the people behind it.

This is what we mean by bean to bar, and making Honest Chocolate matters just as much as the moment you taste our bars.
