Petrol just hit R28.06 a litre. The highest price in the history of this country. Not this year, not this decade, ever. Filling a single tank now costs more than it ever has for any South African who has ever owned a car. Somewhere, your bakkie is quietly bleeding you dry with every trip to the shops.
And it gets worse. The fuel levy relief is being phased out completely by July, so this is not the peak. It is the warm up.
Here is the good news. A scooter sips around 3 to 4 litres per 100km, which means you could fill up for the price of a decent lunch and still have change. Less money at the pump, less time in traffic, and a whole lot more joy on the way to wherever you are going.

This Saturday, 9 May, we have an opportunity to step away from the road for a few hours and give back to something that truly matters.
Scoot Squad would love to join a local community initiative hosted by Pet Savers and Kennels For a Cause, as part of Pet Savers’ 23rd Birthday celebration. Kennels will be painted and refreshed for animals in need. It’s a simple act, but one that makes a real difference. If you’ve ever felt how much joy animals bring into our lives, this is a chance to return some of that care.

**Travel Directions to Somerset Crescent, Cape Town**
**By Public Transport:**
1. **Train:** Take the MetroRail service from Cape Town Station towards Somerset West. The journey takes approximately 50 minutes. Once you arrive at Somerset West Station, you can take a taxi or rideshare service for a short drive to Somerset Crescent.
2. **Bus:** Use the MyCiTi bus service. Board the bus at the Civic Centre station and take Route 101 towards Somerset West. Get off at the nearest stop and walk to Somerset Crescent.
**By Car:**
1. From Cape Town, take the N2 highway heading east.
2. Continue on the N2 for about 40 kilometers.
3. Take exit 43 for R44 toward Stellenbosch/Somerset West.
4. Merge onto R44 and follow signs for Somerset West.
5. Turn left onto Somerset Crescent once you reach your destination area.
**Parking:**
There is street parking available along Somerset Crescent, as well as nearby public parking lots where you can safely leave your vehicle while you explore the area. Be sure to check for any parking restrictions or fees that may apply during your visit.
