🇮🇹 A little taste of Italy (and France!) at our Sunday lunch table! 🇫🇷❤️

René, Schalk and the kitchen team have put together another delicious Sunday buffet, with a little Italian and French inspiration alongside our much-loved Sunday favourites.

📸 The photos are from last Sunday’s buffet. We change things up every week, so there’s always something a little different to look forward to!

‘Karen, do you think we could have our steaks Plankie style?’ 🥩❤️

And just like that, a birthday celebration turned into one of those lovely little restaurant stories we just had to share!

On Tuesday, a group of guests joined us to celebrate a birthday.

One of the ladies had seen our Plankie Steak post, and she just couldn’t get it out of her head! 😂

But she had an idea. What if they could choose different steaks and have them all served Plankie style?

So she asked Karen if we could make it happen.

And of course, Karen and Herman made a plan! ❤️

A little chat with the guests, a bit of rummaging in the storeroom, a few arrangements, and before long, their steaks arrived beautifully sliced on boards, with delicious sauces to enjoy alongside them.

And the best part? They told us how much they loved it! 🥰

I love how sometimes it’s the little things that make a birthday celebration feel that much more special.

A guest had an idea, Karen listened, the kitchen made it happen, and everyone went home happy.

That’s what we love about hospitality. It’s not always about what’s on the menu. Sometimes it’s about making a little plan for the people sitting at your table. ❤️

Our Christmas Day menu is here! 🎄❤️

We’ve been inundated with requests for the menu, and we’re so thankful that so many of you are thinking of spending Christmas Day with us at Cattle Baron Durbanville.

We’ve put a lot of thought and care into creating a Christmas feast to enjoy with family and friends. We want you to settle in, share a lovely meal and enjoy being together while we take care of you. ❤️

Please note that certain dishes are available by pre-order only.

Bookings open on Monday, but you’re welcome to email us now at [email protected].

We’ll send you the Christmas menu and booking form. If you’ll have children joining you, let us know so we can include the children’s menu too.

We have hosted quite a few special occasions around our tables over the past 29 years! ❤️

From milestone birthdays and family reunions to sports club dinners, corporate events and lively get-togethers with friends, we've seen plenty of laughter, celebrations and wonderful memories being made.

And now we've been working on something new for those occasions when you want to bring everyone together.

SOMETHING NEW FOR LUNCH!

We've added some exciting new dishes to our Lunch Time Menu, including our Plankie Steak, Sirloin Steak Prego Roll and two lovely new salads!

🕛 Available Monday–Friday, 12:00–16:00, and Sunday evenings from 16:00.

Here's a little shoutout to two of our lovely gentlemen who regularly visit us and always make a special request for a Plankie Steak. You know who you are! ❤️

It's not actually on our menu, but they keep asking for it.

So last week, I decided it was time for us to try - and now we totally get it! 🤣

A beautifully tender 200g sirloin, served with chimichurri or melted garlic butter and your choice of side.

And at R179, we're delighted to finally give the Plankie Steak a place on our lunchtime menu.

We've also kept some of your Cattle Baron favourites and added a few tempting starters and desserts for those who fancy making a little more of their lunchtime visit.

Herman and René were still busy in the kitchen late yesterday, getting everything ready for today's Sunday lunch.

There's quite a bit of preparation involved in putting our Sunday buffet together, and they've been hard at work to create our lunch for today.

One of the things we love most about Sundays is seeing our tables filled with families and friends. Some come every week, others are celebrating something special, and some simply want to enjoy a good Sunday roast without having to cook or wash a single dish! 😊

Cold, rainy Saturdays call for good food and a cosy booth. 🔥🥩

Our famous Cattle Baron pork ribs are slow-cooked until beautifully tender, then finished on the grill with our signature basting. Sticky, succulent and full of flavour.

And then there's our sirloin. Matured to perfection in-house by our very own Meat Master, Herman, for exceptional tenderness and flavour. Grilled just the way you like it.

How have I not tried this before? 🥩😄

I’ve just got back from visiting family in Denmark, and today I tasted our sirloin ‘plankie steak-style’ with chimichurri.

Now, I know our guests absolutely love our sirloin steaks, but honestly… I was blown away. So soft, so tender, and absolutely divine.

The plankie steak is joining our new lunchtime menu from Tuesday - and now I understand why some of our regulars order this every time they come in ❤️

Fancy trying it tonight? Order your sirloin served plankie steak-style, and we’ll include your choice of chimichurri or melted garlic butter on the house.

Karen also told me that quite a few of you asked for me while I was away. One guest even phoned Herman at home on Saturday night, asking where I was!

That didn’t just make me smile - it made my heart sing a little happy song.

I’m back, and of course, I’m working tonight. So if you fancy a nice meal and a catch-up, I’d love to see you!

To get to Marais Street in Durbanville, you can take public transport by taking a bus to the Durbanville Bus Station and then walking down Church Street until you reach Marais Street.

Alternatively, if you are driving, you can take the N1 highway and exit at the Durban Road off-ramp. From there, head towards Durbanville town center on Main Road until you reach Church Street. Turn left onto Church Street and continue straight until you reach Marais Street.
