SIX MONTHS ❤️
Six months ago, I walked into a restaurant with 29 years of history and became its very proud owner.
And I don’t think I quite knew then how many wonderful people I was about to meet.
There have been so many conversations across tables, chats at the door, stories shared with me — and so many hugs.
I have never experienced anything quite like it. So many of you naturally greet me with a hug, or give me one before you leave, and I absolutely love it. There is something incredibly special about that warmth and connection, and I am so, so grateful for it. ❤️
I love being here in the evening when the restaurant is warm and busy. Hearing the laughter and conversations around the tables. Seeing children completely engrossed in their colouring-in while the adults get a chance to relax.
And knowing that someone has chosen us for a birthday, an anniversary, a family get-together or another milestone in their lives.
That still gives me an enormous sense of gratitude.
I also inherited an incredible team. Some of them have been part of Cattle Baron Durbanville for a very long time, and quite simply, I couldn’t have done these first six months without them.
We’ve had some wonderful highs — including customers absolutely raving about their meals. That makes us ridiculously happy. After all, great food is at the heart of why we’re here.
And we’ve had real sadness too.
We lost Nelson, our much-loved senior griller, after he became ill. His loss was felt deeply by all of us, and he will always be part of the story of this restaurant. ❤️
Over these six months, we’ve made lots of little changes. Nothing that changes the DNA of this place — because I have absolutely no intention of doing that.
Instead, we’re just giving it a little more love.
The seating is comfortable again, so you can linger over another glass of w**e and a good conversation. We’ve been fixing, refreshing and improving things bit by bit — and there are a few more little touches to come.
But what matters most hasn’t changed.
Great food.
Laughter.
Good conversation.
A warm welcome.
And making people feel at home.
I don’t think I’ve ever known a restaurant with so many regular customers. Your loyalty to this place is quite extraordinary, and we are truly grateful for it.
And if we haven’t met yet — please come and say hello. Grab me when you see me, or ask your waiter to fetch me. I am here for my customers, and I will always do everything I can to make you feel welcome and at home when you’re with us. ❤️
So, six months in, I really just wanted to say thank you.
For choosing us.
For coming back.
For the conversations.
For celebrating your special moments with us.
And yes… for all the hugs. ❤️
Here’s to the next six months.
