Some of our most exciting work won’t be tasted for years.
This month, our team planted a new Chenin Blanc vineyard block on the farm, marking the beginning of a journey that will take years to unfold. Before a bottle reaches your table, before a wine earns awards, before a vintage is released, there are years of careful planning, planting and nurturing behind the scenes.
For us, planting a new block is an investment in the future. It’s a commitment to the continued evolution of the variety that has become such an important part of the Groot Phesantekraal story. As these young vines establish themselves over the coming years, they will contribute to the character, complexity and quality of future vintages, helping us continue to explore what Chenin Blanc can express from our corner of Durbanville.
Luckily, you don’t have to wait years to enjoy great our Chenin Blanc.

The afternoon begins as every memorable meal should – with freshly baked farm bread shared around the table, accompanied by seasonal butter, smoked olives and house-made pickles. As conversations flow, guests can choose from a selection of starters that celebrate the flavours of the farm, from tender Phesantekraal Buffalo carpaccio to a Prawn and Pork Scotch Egg, or a comforting bowl of barley and vegetable soup.
The journey continues with generous farm-inspired mains, where slow-cooked and glazed Fallow Deer Shank takes centre stage alongside hearty Farm Chicken Pies with mushroom gravy. Lamb rib, creamy cauliflower cheese gratin, crisp Caesar salad and roasted pumpkin with goat's cheese complete a feast rooted in the land and the season.
To end on a sweet note, dessert offers a choice between a nostalgic Bread and Butter Pudding served with homemade vanilla ice cream and boeretroos, or a decadent Frozen Millionaire's Shortbread Tiramisu. The perfect finale to a leisurely afternoon shared with family and friends.

2. Merge onto R302 and continue for approximately 10 km.
