Not everything that makes Chocolat special arrives on a plate. ❤
We’ve always loved the character of this space. It has its own little quirks, its own charm, and a way of feeling familiar even on your very first visit.
But more than anything, it’s what happens here.
Birthday celebrations, first dates, familiar faces, long-overdue catch-ups and conversations that pick up exactly where they left off.
Over time, a place becomes part of the memories made in it. We like to think Chocolat has found its way into quite a few.
And that might be our favourite detail of all.

By day, Chocolat is full of warm sunshine, leafy garden tables, and the gentle clink of cups and glasses drifting through the air.
Then evening arrives.
The lamps flicker on, candles cast their soft glow across the tables, and the whole place settles into something quieter, moodier, and wonderfully inviting.
We’re rather fond of this version of Chocolat. ❤️

If these walls could talk, they'd have a few stories to tell.
First dates that turned into something rather serious. Long lunches that became longer lunches. Family catch-ups where everyone talks at once. Celebrations, confessions, old friends catching up and new memories being made.
And plenty of lovely little moments that probably seemed ordinary at the time.
I think that's rather the point, don't you? 🤍

Chocolat: the stay-a-while edition. ❤
The table’s been cleared, but nobody’s getting up just yet.
There’s still a little w**e in the glass. Someone has ordered coffee. The conversation has wandered onto something completely unrelated.
The lights are low, the chairs are comfortable, and somehow it’s already much later than you thought.
Maybe that’s our favourite part of Chocolat.

To reach this restaurant located on Oxford Street in Durbanville, one can take the B3 or M13 bus and alight at the Durbanville station. From there, walk straight to Oxford Street and turn right until you spot the restaurant.
For those driving, heading towards Durbanville on the N1, take exit number 23 for Durban Road towards Tygervalley/Durbanville. Follow Durban Road until it becomes Main Road, and turn right onto Wellington Road. Finally, turn left onto Oxford Street where you will find the restaurant on your left-hand side.
