You may have seen the DFFE warning about shellfish toxins along the Saldanha Bay coastline, and we want to address it directly. 🦪
The Mussel Monger if likely the leading purveyor of oysters and mussels in South Africa. We are extremely experienced and are at the fore front of the industry.
We are trading mussels at this time which we have high pressure steamed and blast frozen with all their cooking liquor, making them taste as good as fresh.
And our secure tank systems which are unique to our company hold and purge over 8,000 oysters at any given time. Our procurement model means we control every step of the supply chain long before anything reaches your plate.
We are still trading. Our oysters and mussels are 100% safe, tested independently and governed by the highest industry standards.
The DFFE warning is specifically about wild-harvested shellfish. That’s not us. Professional purging is what we do and it’s what separates us from the rest.
