Frankie's Burgers Frankie's Burgers is a fast food restaurant that serves delicious burgers made by the famous Frankie Fenner. They have multiple locations in Cape Town, including FFMM Woodstock and We Are Egg (Cavendish), as well as a street location on Shortmarket Street. In addition, they will also be taking over the food truck at the Beau Constantia weekend market for limited hours on Saturdays and Sundays. Some weeks are about restraint. This is not one of those weeks 😌🍩🍔 This Friday happens to be World Doughnut Day, and frankly, it felt irresponsible not to celebrate. So we’ve teamed up once again with our friends .doughnut for the return of a Burger Friday favourite: the Destination Doughnut 2.0 Burger. If you’ve ever joined us for Burger Friday, you’ll know Destination’s handiwork from the doughnuts tempting you from our counter. They’re one of our favourite local food brands because they approach doughnuts the same way we approach burgers – with equal parts skill, creativity and a healthy disregard for playing it safe. And when two teams like that get together, good things tend to happen 👌 At its heart, this is a classic American-style cheeseburger. A Beef and springbok burger layered with double white cheddar cheese, house burger relish, American pickles, hot mustard glaze and crispy onions. The only difference? We’ve gone and put the whole thing inside a Destination Doughnut. Sweet. Salty. Tangy. Crunchy. Completely unnecessary. But also completely delicious. The first one sold out in a flash. Rich, buttery, earthy, slightly sweet… pistachios somehow make everything feel a little more indulgent. So naturally, we leaned all the way in. This one’s a special one 💔🍔 If you’ve been following along for a while, you’ll know that Burger Fridays have always been a team effort behind the scenes. And for the past few years, a big part of that has been our Trav – the production head and in-house master chef. This week marks Travis’ last Frankie’s Burger Friday with us – and it only felt right to let him dig into the archives and bring back the one he always dreams about. The Umami Bomb that got away. Now, we know we’ve built this whole Burger Friday thing on the idea that burgers don’t repeat. One week only, then gone forever 🕊️ But every now and then, rules are there to be bent – especially when it’s for something like this! Because when we went back to try figure out when this burger first made its appearance… we realised it’s been years. Many, many years. If you were around last year, you might remember a certain steak roll that we did with under the banner of MEATLOAF for . It was one of those creations that quietly took on a life of its own at the festival – and has been brought up more times than we can count since 😮‍💨💪✨ So when planning for Kiss Kiss rolled around again this year, it felt like the right moment to bring it back. Slightly reworked, but still rooted in everything that made it so good in the first place. Big flavours, beautiful meat and just enough nostalgia to make it feel like a celebration. As tradition now demands, it’s served on a Jason Bakery Hot Cross Bun – but this year, we’ve built it around one of our favourite combinations: lamb and beef. The other’s thinking about slow-roasted lamb belly – rich, savoury, a little indulgent, exactly what it should be. Usually, you’d have to choose! But this week, we decided not to 😅 Introducing the Rolled Lamb Belly Burger 🍔 A juicy beef burger layered with a slice of mozzarella. Sometimes a burger idea arrives after weeks of testing and planning. And sometimes it starts with someone leaning over the butchery counter saying something completely unrelated while picking up their meat order. Last week with the cooler weather, somewhere between weighing steaks and slicing biltong, someone casually mentioned they’d just had a Croque Monsieur for lunch. You know – that legendary French café sandwich: ham, cheese, béchamel, golden, indulgent, borderline unreasonable. Now, once a thought like that lands in a room full of people who spend their days thinking about food and particularly meat and burgers… it’s pretty much game over. Because the question immediately becomes: what would that taste like as a burger? So obviously this week we decided to find out. Enter the Croque Monsieur Burger. A beef and ham burger layered with boerenkaas, mozzarella and cheddar for that full melt situation. Then a generous spoon of our house mustard béchamel – creamy, savoury and exactly the kind of sauce that makes everything better. Last week we went a little Stateside. And before anyone panics – no, we’re not relocating 😌 It just got us thinking. We’ve played with an Oklahoma-style onion burger before. We’ve also flirted with a Wisconsin butter burger. And it felt about time we brought those ideas home and made them our own. So this week, we’re introducing the Woodstock Whipped Butter Onion Burger ✨ Picture this: beef and onion cooking and melting together (the way they should be), letting those flavours deepen and mingle properly. Then comes the butter moment. Not just butter, though. We’ve whipped together miso, tallow and butter into something savoury, silky and quietly outrageous 😮‍💨 That melting into the hot beef and onions, working its way into the bun in the best possible way. We’re keeping the Sea Point momentum rolling this week with another champion steak sauce-led burger that captures exactly where our heads are at right now 🫶 After the last few weeks of love, feedback, and full tables, we’re leaning into what Sea Point is all about: great meat, treated with respect, dressed simply and finished with beautiful sauces that make you want to come back and try them all 🤤 Which brings us to this week. We’ve been quietly perfecting another new steak topping sauce for the Sea Point menu – our charred ginger scallion relish. Smoky, fresh and deeply Umami. It’s built on charred spring onions, warming ginger, and just enough rich sesame to make it pretty irresistible. It’s punchy without being aggressive, fresh without being sharp, and designed first and foremost as a companion to our beautiful steaks. Naturally, we had to see how it behaved on a burger… and let’s just say, it behaves very well 😌👌 We’ve paired it with a juicy beef burger loving infused with a light tare-style marinade (a Japanese-inspired seasoning that adds subtle depth and umami without stealing focus), plus melty mozzarella, a creamy miso mayo for roundness and umami pickles to keep everything balanced and full.
