Big shoutout to our incredible seafood chef, Karl! ♟️

When he’s not creating magic in the kitchen, Karl is out in the community making a real difference through chess.

He coaches and mentors kids, teaching them how to play, grow, and sharpen their skills. From regular training sessions to competing in matches against other schools and tournaments, these young players are constantly leveling up. 💙

Chess isn’t just a game — it’s helping them build focus, confidence, and discipline, while also opening doors to travel and new experiences. Karl has just arrived back from George, where he accompanied a young boy for his chess tournament! 🥳

This being Karl’s first ever flight on a plane! ✈️

Being part of the Fish Hoek Chess Club gives the children even more exposure, stronger competition, and a wider network to grow within and Karl doesn’t stop there — he also offers private coaching, helping individual players take their game to the next level. 🤩

We’d like to share a gentle, friendly reminder

For everyone’s safety — please take extra care when crossing the road to and from the restaurant and when parking. This road has seen its share of accidents and your safety truly means the world to us. 💙

We encourage our customers to make use of the pedestrian crossing for extra safety.

You may notice the yellow barrier lines that have been placed to PREVENT U-TURNS. We kindly ask that these are respected and adhered to, for your safety and the safety of others on the road.

Yesterday, we encountered another terrible accident. 😞

Here are a few alternative routes, for changing lanes:
1. Turn into Warner Road to turn around (the road after Dixies Restaurant, coming from Glencairn side)
2. ⁠Turn into Squire Road (the road before Dixie’s, coming from Glencairn side) and come down Warner Road to get back on the Main Road.
3. Make use of the Glencairn Train Station parking lot, on the left hand side, before Dixies - coming from Glencairn.

The perception of the speed of the vehicles coming from Simon’s Town is very deceiving from the Restaurant. Please be safe 🤍

What an absolutely incredible day with the 2026 Cape Town Cycle Tour passing Dixies Restaurant!

The vibe was next level – thousands of amazing cyclists powering past while our team kept the energy high! The atmosphere was electric, the music was pumping, and the smiles were everywhere.

A massive WELL DONE to every single cyclist who took on this iconic race – you were all legends out there today! 💪🚴‍♀️

Our spot was packed from morning till afternoon with supporters, locals, visitors, and plenty of press and media capturing the magic. It truly felt like one big celebration of sport, community, and Cape Town spirit.💙

Kalk Bay Veteran Run 🚗

This Sunday is the annual Kalk Bay Veteran Run!

Get ready for a spectacular sight as a fleet of beautiful vintage cars built before 1919 will be cruising through the Valley main roads!

The route starts in Wynberg and ends in Jubilee Square in Simon’s Town, which means that they will cruise past Dixies, join us for breakfast & continue their journey. 🏃‍♀️💨
